Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to the following (Management reserves the right to add or modify the duties and responsibilities at any time):

  • Inspect Packaging Equipment, Compaction System, Loader, or Mill Tower before beginning work in your respective area.

  • Support efforts of Operator A, and be able to perform and support Operator C job functions

  • Operate bagging lines including troubleshooting, monitoring and changing chemical totes when needed, and monitoring flow rates to maintain desired addition rate for each product.

  • Operate and maintain dye system.

  • Operate loader in order to maintain salt supply to the production lines, manage various stockpiles, and perform various housekeeping activities throughout the facility.

  • Operate Mill Tower to supply production lines and bulk customers with the appropriate raw material. This includes managing flow rates in and out of the Mill, maintaining storage bin levels, managing the screening system to keep up with demand from the production lines, and operate compaction system to ensure material balance throughout the shift.

  • Load bulk trucks from the Mill Tower.

  • Perform flow checks to ensure materials are flowing freely from chemical hoppers and Mill Tower to the production lines.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on loader and in Mill Tower including lubricating and cleaning critical parts in each area.

  • Accurately complete production paperwork and equipment checklists daily.

  • Provide accurate information handoff during shift change both verbally and in writing.

  • Active participant in CIP (Continuous Improvement Program) and 6S

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education and/or Experience : A high school diploma or GED is required.

  • Walking throughout the Packaging area.

  • Stand for long periods of time during production run.

  • Bend throughout the work shift if loading blocks on pallet.

  • Lift up to 80 pounds and move item short distances.

  • Sit for extended periods while operating forklift.

  • Reach below shoulder level to lift blocks off conveyor.

  • Pull trash receptacles.

  • Push levers, brooms and shovels.

  • Climb ladders to bins and multiple flights of stairs between floors of the building throughout the day.

  • Managing people – support activities of Operator C workers.

  • Reading – read and understand work orders and other written material relevant to the job.

  • Written communication – write in understandable English (and Spanish a plus) to complete required paperwork and provide information needed by subsequent shift workers, coworkers and supervisors.

  • Seeing –visually inspect daily production to ensure the quality of daily output.

  • Listening – understand oral job-related information and instructions received from coworkers and supervisors. Listen to machinery operations to detect problems.

  • Environmental conditions in different parts of the plant can include extreme heat and cold, wet and humid conditions, noise, vibration, exposure to dust and poor ventilation.

  • Hazardous conditions include moving parts, potential electrical shock, and slick floors.

  • PPE including hard hat, steel-toed shoes with meta-tarsal guards, ear plugs when required, and safety glasses are required at all times.
