Summary: This position is responsible perform assigned duties in the crushing/ preparation and conveyance of the raw material into to process facility. Conducts tasks in a safe and efficient manner. Is responsible for the inspection, care and cleaning of the assigned operating area. Shift work is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: (Management reserves the right to add or modify the duties and responsibilities at any time.)

  • Conducts routine sampling of raw material fed to the process facility.

  • Forwards material to the control room for analysis.

  • Obtains a shift composite sample and forwards to the lab for analysis, continuously inspects 20-30 pieces of equipment in the assigned area of responsibility.

  • This includes crushers, conveyor systems, pumps, idlers, gearboxes and motors.

  • Visually inspects belts for proper alignment and signs of fraying or general wear.

  • Listens for unusual noises emanating from equipment.

  • Monitors temperatures of bearings for unusual heat.

  • Reports problems to the control room and logs all entries accordingly.

Monitors product spillage, proactively prevents such occurrences and cleans up accordingly.

Performs other functions as directed by the supervisor or control board operator

Follows established safety and housekeeping rules and reports, and/or, corrects unsafe conditions.

Area is clean, safe free of product buildup and other EHS hazards as measured by routine daily inspections conducted by supervisor and/or other personnel.

Crushing operations not disrupted due to inattention to signs of potential equipment problems as measured by on stream time and number of relevant referrals to supervisor for proactive maintenance.

Equipment inspection check sheet accurately documents spills, leaks, belt wear, unusual noise or heat etc. as measured by daily review of crushing area and associated checklist by supervisor.

Samples are delivered timely, every two hours, as measured by receipt log and lab technician input. Samples are obtained from proper areas, in proper quantities as per input from lab tech.

Crushing area log entries reflect: a complete accounting of relevant shift information, accuracy and legibility per daily review by supervisor.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Must have a high school diploma and previous experience or education demonstrating the ability to monitor equipment for proper operation and perform tasks related to maintaining product quality. Experience in a process plant in the mining / minerals industry is preferred.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be PC literate and proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access to analyze and communicate information. Must be able to navigate an ERP to issue work requests and review inventory.
