We are currently hiring Two (2) A Operators to join the team at our Unity Mechanical Evaporation Plant located in Unity, Saskatchewan.

Located in the western part of Saskatchewan, Compass Minerals’ Unity Mechanical Evaporation Plant is one of the company’s four mechanical evaporation plants. The plant produces and packages a wide variety of salt products including water conditioning salt, bulk salt, food-grade salt and salt for agriculture. The Unity Evaporation Plant is located in a friendly community of 2,500 that loves hockey and curling, situated in the beautiful big-sky prairies, an hour from North Battleford and a 2-hour drive from Saskatoon. How will you contribute to the team?

  • Various clean up duties and sanitation of areas assigned by supervisor.

  • Operation of various production lines including:IBC Bagger and Packing Line

  • Operation and cleaning of Dust Collection equipment and completion of Dust Collector Operator tasks including:cleaning Crushing Area, daily dust collector cleaning and maintenance

  • Able to safely and adequately complete janitorial tasks

  • Operate mobile equipment including: Forklift, Skidsteer, and Loader

  • Occasionally help in the maintenance department.

  • Perform small maintenance tasks.

  • Responsible for the safe handling and storage of all finished product and of opened packaging material.

  • Conduct sanitation and food safety checks for all equipment, products, and packaging materials, including those in the upper warehouse.

  • Conduct magnet and screen checks and taking retain sample(s) for further analysis.

  • Accurately complete all worksheets for each shift.

  • Responsible for changing over equipment for all products made.

  • Responsible for various operator QC checks including:weight checks, QC of packaging materials, Pad tests, etc.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

what should you bring to the role?

  • Previous work experience in a process-related industry, be knowledgeable about process equipment and control systems, and be flexible to different task assignments.

  • Ability to understand manufacturer’s operating instruction books, follow complex oral and/or written instructions.

  • Ability to maintain records & reports relative to the operations of the plant

  • Ability to multi-task, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Mechanically inclined and have the ability to troubleshoot, problem solve, repair and resolve issues related to the position

  • Have a clear understanding of how to accurately perform safety and regulatory responsibilities (i.e. equipment, safe work procedures, etc.)

  • Be able to work at heights and confined spaces.

  • Be successful with basic math skills and equations.

  • Have own transportation to report to scheduled shifts on time.

  • Have valid class 5 driver’s license.

  • Be available for various shifts including (depending on operational need):

  • 8 hour day shifts (Monday – Friday) and/or

  • 12-hour rotating shifts (days, nights, weekends)
